I've heard several comments bordering on hysteria about this law. The usual statement is along the lines of 'oh my god. now you can carry a loaded gun into a bar and get drunk'.
I'll try to make this simple.
1) The law does not allow you to carry a gun into a bar. It allows you to carry a concealed weapon, if you already have a permit, into a restaurant that serves alcohol. Said restaurant must derive at least 40% of it's income from the sale of food.
2) You may not drink while carrying a weapon.
Now this law only applies to law abiding citizens. Previously these individuals were required to leave their weapons either at home or in their car.
Criminals were already:
1) Carrying guns into bars.
2) Drinking alcohol while carrying.
3) Getting drunk while carrying.
4) Endangering law-abiding citizens who had no means to protect themselves.
Now, can anyone present a rational argument as to why this new law creates a new and deadly environment?
