CC - RELEASE COPS cop-out

An expos by USAToday on the Clinton-era Community Oriented Policing Services (‘COPS') project shows the program wasted millions of dollars, never put the promised 100,000 new police on the streets, and has not been a panacea to crime

Don't forget to go for the head

Link: John Lott's Website: Concealed handgum permit holder's intervention in Texas shooting may have saved lived.

A very unfortunate shooting.  And I'm not second guessing Mark Wilson's shooting by any means.  God knows if I'd have had to guts to step in.  No one knows till it happens.  But if it happens I'm going to try to remember to snap a quick two to the chest then aim for the head.  Or better yet, use a .50 from good cover.   Thanks for trying Mark.  You're a hero in my book.

MONTANA ALERT from Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms

MONTANA ALERT

The Judiciary Committee of the Montana House will hold its public hearing on HB 693 Thursday morning at 8AM. HB 693 will shore up Montana law in several important res pects to enhance a person's ability to use a firearm for self defense, without fear of prosecution. You may read the bill text here.

You may read MSSA announcements about this bill, including (later this evening) an explanation of the bill's effect, by Gary Marbut, president of the Montana Shooting Sports Association, the organization spearheading this bill. For this explanation, go to the MSSA Website.

Because the Montana Legislature is near the mid-session "transmittal" deadline, the full House will probably act on this bill very soon - Monday, or no later than Tuesday.

All Montana gun owners are urged to phone in messages to their House (Representative) members at 444-4800 to support HB 693. Do it soon.

To find out who your Representative is, enter your Zip code here.

An online message may be sent to legislators here.

California Appeals Court Dismisses Anti Gun Lawsuits

A news release from the Second Amendment Foundation.  This sounds good to me.  Suing a manufacturer because their product is mis-used is just insane.  The whole frellin' country is suit happy and the gun grabbers figure it's just one more way to make everyone a defenseless victim.

Defenseless Victim Zones - Assumption of Liability

I believe that any establishment that "requests" you to dis-arm should thereby assume liability for you safety.  Arizona's law allowing such posting should be re-written to specify that if a business denies you the carrying of your own weapon that they become automatically liable for your health and well-being while in their establishment.
