We shouldn't go after someone that hasn't done anything to us?? Guess that makes Hezbollah fair game. We owe them big time. We not only should support Israel in this but should address a couple not so diplomatic notes to Lebanon, Syria, and Iran.

It stands to reason that self-righteous, inflexible, single-minded, authoritarian true believers are politically organized. Open-minded, flexible, complex, ambiguous, anti-authoritarian people would just as soon be left to mind their own fucking business. -- R.U. Sirius, How To Mutate and Take Over The World
Kevin has several great quotes blogged today, but I think this is one of my favorites. It says quite a lot about today's state of affairs. This is why the powers that be end up telling you how to live your life. But getting individualists to work together is like herding cats.
The Lawdog Files is probably one of the best reads on the net today. He purports to be a cop in Smallville, Texas but his writing seems to belie that. This guy is way too intelligent to be a cop. Or perhaps the cops I've run into aren't what you'd call the cream of the crop. Stop by and give him a read.
I'm sitting here listening to some mp3's and thinking about an upcoming reunion at my high school. It's actually the class of '65 but they've invited everyone from the '60s. Maybe they're running low on classmates. But you're only talking about 59 years old or thereabout. But for the life of me I can't think of any reason I'd want to go. Christ, high school sucked. I see posts by my classmates talking about these old places they used to go to and I wonder what they're talking about. I never went those places. Never hung out with those people. For some it's the "Glory Days" but for me it was just another thing to get past in life. Maybe if I'd been able to stay with the band things might have been different. I still feel cheated about that. Go to high school for the first day and find out I can't take band because I didn't take summer band. I didn't even know I had to.
Fuck, high school sucked. I was a nerd. I was short. I was fat. Strike three, you're an outcast. It's not like I didn't have any friends. There was a small circle of people I'd hang out with. Some of them I worked with, some were in classes with me. Only one or two I'd call close friends though.
No, I'm not going to any reunions. And I doubt I'll be missed.
Forgive me BlogDaddy for I have sinned. It's been two weeks since my last post.
I've been so frustrated by the idiocy going on the world today that I just can't get the words out. How can so many supposedly intelligent people not see what's in front of their eyes? Gun control, jihadist appeasement, lack of civility in discussions, Republicans deciding that big government is good since they're in charge. The list just goes on and on and on and... Well, you get the idea.
The Brady bunch argues that if a gun law saves just one life it's worth it. But if a gun in a woman's hand saves three lives then doesn't that mean that guns are better than gun laws.
In New York City carrying a gun is against the law. However, criminals are still carrying guns. What's the answer? Pass more gun laws. Huh? Doesn't anyone else see the fallacy in this. The only people that abide by laws are law-abiding citizens. Criminals couldn't possibly care less what laws you pass. That's why they're criminals. In Arizona CCW (concealed carry) is legal. If I were a criminal I think I'd go somewhere that I know the people aren't carry weapons. Why take a chance on getting your ass shot off.
And appeasement. Puh-leeze! If I invite someone to dinner that observes Kosher food laws, then I won't serve them pork. That's not appeasement, that's just polite. But I probably wouldn't hide my wife's pig collection. If the sight of a pig makes your stomach queasy then I'd recommend professional help. Britain seems to have gone absolutely insane with appeasement. The cup lids that someone said looked somewhat similar to an Islamic holy word. The woman that had to get rid of her Piglet collectible in her cube. I'm waiting for Kermit to be banned in Britain. Religious law has no place in public. It should never apply to anyone outside of the religion. And no one should be offended (and this seems to be asking a lot) if someone not of their religion violates one of their tenets.
